The holy month of Ramadhan has finally arrived. Despite the serenity it offers, this month could also be a hectic month full of excitement to try and discover new places to start off your fasting day (breakfast) or to break fast.

The journey starts when I visited a 24-hour casual dining place in Jakarta called Eatsomnia. Located in the crowded street of Fatmawati, Eatsomnia provides money-friendly options of foods that will warm up your heart and prepare for the day. For you who yearns for a heart-warming home food meals, this is the place for you as it provides alteration of common cooked meals such as fried rice, porridge, and even instant noodles. I was surprised to see the highly-affordable price of the meals even for its specialized wagyu-included meals and fortunately, it tasted okay. Overall, the place that adopted industrial concept tried its best to radiate a comfortable atmosphere for their customers. Despite it being a not-so-wide spaced restaurant,  their brick walls, dangling head lamps and wooden furniture, makes Eatsomia to be a suitable place to hang out with your friends up until midnight and for you who are fasting, it might be nice to try and go out for a mini-adventure and try Eatsomnia to start your fasting day.

During the fasting month, I’ve encountered countless of people trying to not succumb to their desire for food and beverages and I’ve also encountered countless of people who succeeds to do so. However, when the clock strikes 6 and it’s time to break fast, I’ve also seen a lot of people excitedly engulfing their foods trying to relieve all their cravings, hunger and thirst of the day. Even though it’s understandable, this habit can also end up with a undesired result (read: the fattening process of your belly).  To fight this, I tried to go to Kemang’s Honu to search for healthy food options to break fast. Honu is the Hawaiian green sea turtle who symbolizes good luck and long life. Thus, this first Poké and Matcha Bar that provide foods with great health benefits. Their foods are usually placed in the classic Hawaiian poké bowls which include salmon, tuna, and a lot of greens. For the beverage section, they offered 100% organic Kagoshima’s matcha that have the same amount of benefits just like its poké bowls.

Upon my arrival at Honu, I can already feel the tropical ambiance it offers. The green walls with a light colored wooden door along with a palm tree beside it scream Hawaii enough for me. As I enter the restaurant, the tropical ambiance only gets stronger with green and white painted walls, bar stools, plants, and ukeleles hanging on the walls, not to mention its rock rooms that are full of cobblestones that are totally Instagram-worthy.
